Homemade

I've been trying to get rid of preservatives and too much sugar. I made my own Nutella with probably about 1/5 the sugar of the real stuff, and it tastes amazing! I also make whole wheat hamburger buns. I can't go back to store bought now, it tastes too fake.

Homemade Nutella
2 cups of hazelnuts
3 oz. bakers chocolate or 3 tbsp Cocoa powder and 1 tbsp Coconut oil
1 cup milk
½ cup unrefined sugar
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
a pinch of salt
1) Toast the hazelnuts: Place the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast in the oven at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Remove the skin. Place the hazelnuts in a tea towel and rub them until the skin turns to dust.
2) Using a food processor or blender, turn the hazelnuts into a smooth butter. It’s ok if there are some pieces left.
3) Place the chocolate, milk, sugar and vanilla in a double boiler and melt the ingredients whisking from time to time until well combined.
4) Stir in the hazelnut butter and keep whisking until the mixture is completely incorporated and it starts to thicken. Cook the cream for not more that 5 minutes and then put it in a clean and sanitized jar.

Jenny, have you ever tried the food processor recipe for Nutella? I haven't tried it myself yet, but have the ingredients all ready, I'll try it today, as I could use xylitol and it'd be OK for my low carb diet! Yours looks great by the way! Its just that if I can avoid cooking, I do!
LOVE this blog! You do it so well! I can keep up with your kids this way! They are delightful!
